Summary

Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with women of all ages on concerns related to identity development, relationship challenges, recovery from substance use disorders, shame, perfectionism, high-demand jobs, relational or vicarious trauma, or life transitions. She also has experience working with individuals navigating the recovery process of a partner or adult child with a substance use disorder or mental health concern. Additionally, Emily works with clients grieving the loss of a loved one from suicide or unintentional drug overdose.
Following her desire to serve others, Emily graduated from the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in social work and has worked in a variety of clinical settings in the Atlanta area. Upon graduation, Emily worked at the Ridgeview Institute as an admissions counselor. She then transitioned to Metro Atlanta Recovery Residences (MARR) and worked as a primary counselor with addiction and recovery. Before transitioning to private practice, Emily served as the Dual Diagnosis assistant director at Skyland Trail, where she worked with individuals who have a substance use disorder as well as a co-occurring diagnosis like major depression, generalized anxiety, schizophrenia, complex trauma, or disordered eating. At Skyland, Emily also provided supervision to therapists.
Emily’s goal in therapy is to help create a safe place where clients can show up authentically and explore parts of themselves they’ve kept hidden. It is her hope that through values exploration, mindfulness, meaning making, and cognitive exercises, clients will begin to experience freedom from old cognitive and behavioral patterns that have kept them stuck and feeling unfulfilled.
Emily considers herself a lifelong learner; in her free time she is often exploring new interests and hobbies—or going on adventures with her pup, Lucy.
