I’ve been walking alongside individuals on their healing journey since 2015. I have an embodied approach to therapy that connects the heart, mind, and body, which I believe are connected—so having a holistic plan for healing is key. I specialize in trauma work and also work extensively with anxiety, depression, and family-of-origin issues. I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a specialization in family studies from Corban College. I went on to earn a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Grace College and Seminary. I hold certifications in Brainspotting and am a Clinical Trauma Professional. Depending on the client’s needs I integrate various approaches, including Narrative Theory, Parts Work (based on Internal Family Systems), Exposure Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, and Attachment Theory. The works of Bessel van der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Curt Thompson, and Dan Allender have greatly influenced my understanding of the origin stories of both our wounding and healing. I love working at the intersection of clinical counseling and Christian spiritual formation. If clients wish to integrate their faith into their healing journey, I am more than happy to meet them where they are. I have been married for 18 years and have 3 kids ranging from ages 8 to 14. I hail from the Hoosier State and have been cheering on IU basketball since I was a little girl attending games at Assembly Hall. My husband and I have been in ministry for the entirety of our marriage, and he is now pastoring a local church in Alpharetta.

In my work with couples, adults, and teens, Sonia’s hope is that clients will leave therapy confident in their strengths, equipped to make wise choices, and empowered to maintain healthier lives and relationships. She works to alleviate negative symptoms within the context of current circumstances, help identify the root of challenges, and modify unhealthy cognitive and emotional processes. Sonia’s interventions help clients break through an impasse and equip them with practical solutions for future problem solving. She offers targeted, short-term counseling or in-depth therapy that identifies and replaces negative patterns. In couples counseling, Sonia helps partners break negative cycles, learn effective communication skills, build deeper connection, co-parent effectively after divorce, or heal after an affair. She uses Dr. Gottman's research and other approaches, customizing treatment with questionnaires that speed up the process and give a clear picture of strengths and deficits. She also conducts premarital counseling assessments. Sonia offers eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a physiologically-based therapy for the treatment of conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, complicated grief, and adult or childhood trauma.

Orrin believes that telling your story is transformative. An unexamined story hinders our abilities to tend to our own inner worlds, contributing to a range of issues such as anxiety/depression, shame, anger, compulsive/addictive behaviors, and difficult relationship patterns. Without realizing it, we can spend so much of our energy avoiding and managing our pain, that we have little left over to pursue the lives we were made for. Orrin’s own story bears this truth out. Growing up in Atlanta, Orrin played the “good Christian boy" role well, learning to reject parts of himself that didn’t fit into this model—and assuming God and others would as well. It wasn’t until he began to practice vulnerability that he opened himself to being loved and embraced exactly as he is—not as he should be. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Orrin spent some time in college ministry before becoming a high school English teacher, where he aimed to help students find threads of their own stories within the characters, worlds, and language of novels and poems. Orrin eventually felt a pull towards counseling and earned his M.A. from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta. Orrin’s early clinical experience included private practice therapy with adults, adolescents, and families, as well as group therapy and assessments in psychiatric hospital and non-profit settings. In therapy, Orrin draws primarily from attachment science and family systems theory in order to help individuals and families move out of “stuckness” into connection, healing, and growth. When he’s not at the office, Orrin enjoys reading fiction, watching the Braves, cooking, and being outside. Most of all, Orrin loves spending time with his wife, his two daughters, and his friends.

Kristi has been passionate about helping others as long as she can remember. Her career began as a hospice social worker, which was incredibly rewarding and radically changed her perspective on life. Later, Kristi pivoted to private practice after her own life-changing experiences in therapy. She is trained in several modalities, including Gottman Method, Relational Life Therapy, and Brainspotting. Kristi was selected as one of only 16 therapists to be in the first training cohort of the Relationship Theory Model (RTM) with Jourdan Blue. RTM is revolutionizing the way individuals and couples approach relationship-focused therapy and relationship coaching. Kristi's approach to counseling is direct, results-focused, and collaborative. She has high expectations for her clients, giving them the compassion and accountability they need for success, growth, and change. Kristi emphasizes that the process requires work and correspondence outside of sessions, and she guides her clients to "immerse and rehearse" what they are learning, ultimately retraining their brain for secure, healthy connections. Kristi understands if you are skeptical about counseling or have tried it and were unsuccessful. However, she encourages you to reach out to her so she can explain how her approach is different and how she can help you thrive!
