Edliz 'Edi' Vazquez

Edliz 'Edi' Vazquez

Hi there! I'm Edlíz and I work with young adults who are experiencing life transitions; self-esteem or interpersonal struggles; or anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns. My goal in the therapeutic alliance is to create an opportunity for self-understanding and validation—because let's be honest, the quarter-life crisis is pretty legit. I help clients build skills to manage mental wellness and prevent distress in the future. I also support clients in finding purposefulness in their decisions in order to reinforce healthy identity development. I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, and humanistic approaches in my work. I believe lasting change takes place when we not only learn how to cope through the difficulties of life, but understand why it's important to build resilience. Growth happens with time and evolves with each stage of life. For clients who have difficulty making office visits because of scheduling or transportation issues, I offer video and phone sessions via confidential, encrypted software. I'm currently taking new therapy clients. If I'm not in session with a client, you'll see me writing away on my blog www.incremental.care.

Lee Anne Dickerson

Lee Anne Dickerson

Arbor Cove Therapy

Roswell, GA

Lee Anne Dickerson, PsyD, was raised in a home that was very active in ministry to children and the poor. This fostered a special love in her heart and passion for children and families. She brings two generations of wisdom into her practice, which continues to help children and families foster healthy connections and repair broken relationships. When working with Dr. Dickerson, parents can expect to be welcomed into a warm, supportive, and collaborative working relationship. Children will find she delights in their individuality and will work toward solutions and growth in a fun and engaging way. Dr. Dickerson completed her Doctor of Psychology degree from Regent University in 2001 and has been in the mental health field for over 20 years. She is licensed as a clinical psychologist in both Georgia (#PSY004236) and her native state of Virginia (#0810003264). Dr. Dickerson has worked in various settings including in-patient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment center, and private practice. In addition, she has taught undergraduate and graduate level psychology courses. She views clients through the lenses of Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dr. Dickerson is sensitive to the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs of her clients. Her graduate training focused on integrating faith with psychology, and she is more than happy to incorporate faith into therapy when requested, while welcoming individuals from all faith, non-faith, and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Dickerson values continuing education and is trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (R) (TBRI), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Theraplay (R), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the EAGALA model of equine assisted therapy. Dr. Dickerson has extensive experience working with foster and adoptive families in both child welfare agencies and private practice. She recognizes the unique needs of the child, the parents, and additional siblings in the home. Seeing the need for social support for these families, Dr. Dickerson developed a day camp for adoptive families utilizing the TBRI model and equine assisted therapy. Dr. Dickerson also provides psychological testing for foster and adoptive children. Testing provides diagnostic clarification and practical recommendations for parents, care givers, and child care workers. Dr. Dickerson believes it is a privilege and honor to be a part of telling each child’s story and providing assistance for their care and healing.

Wendy Failor

Wendy Failor

Compassion Cove Counseling

Tucker, GA

Wendy’s journey to becoming a therapist began as a desire to help others through encouragement when she was very young. As an educator, mother, and minister's wife, she has been learning how to create and sustain a spiritually and emotionally healthy life, marriage, and family for more than 28 years. Her family spent more than 12 years living in a cross-cultural environment. Wendy knows what it feels like to be an outsider and misunderstood, facing circumstances beyond her control. Her compassion for others has grown as she has faced trials that have taught her to let go of fear and judgment. She strives to live daily in a spirit of grace toward herself and others, remembering the grace that she has been given throughout her lifetime. Wendy earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Valdosta State University in 1993. After returning from three separate tours as a cross-cultural worker in Central Asia, she attended Richmont Graduate University, earning a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and a certificate in marriage and family therapy. She worked with children, adolescents, and families under board-certified art therapist Teresa Woodruff's direction at Art It Out Therapy in East Cobb. There she learned to incorporate creative expression into various therapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and person-centered and group therapy. Wendy also worked with individual adults and couples at Hope Counseling Center in Marietta. To further her work with couples and families and gain a better understanding of the role of attachment in relationships, she studied emotionally focused therapy (EFT) under James Hawk, PhD., LPC. Wendy is in the certification process for EFT. Wendy receives strength and encouragement from her faith in Christ and believes it informs every area of her life. As a follower of Christ, she is compelled to love others as she has been loved. To Wendy, that includes respecting the personal beliefs of others, even if they differ from her own. She hopes that every person she is with experiences compassion and a nonjudgmental spirit from her. If incorporating your personal faith into therapy is something you want, Wendy will gladly do so. However, she will not force her beliefs on you. Wendy welcomes clients from any faith or with no faith background at all. Wendy loves working with school-aged children, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families. She believes that play is the primary language of children and incorporates creative expression, play therapy, and games into her work with them. She also uses media and art therapy with adolescents—and adults! Wendy believes everyone can benefit from creative expression. She has a passion for working with couples and families and has chosen EFT as her primary therapy model. According to authors Candice C. Beasley and Richard Ager (2019), EFT is one of the most effective, researched-based, relational therapies for couples. Having experienced EFT as both a client and therapist, Wendy can vouch for its effectiveness. At Family Renewal Counseling in Woodstock, she is now under the direction and supervision of Christie Poole, MS, LMFT, and board-certified supervisor Erin Holcomb, MS, LPC.
