Emily Giattina

Emily Giattina

Cultivate Counseling

Atlanta, GA

Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with women of all ages on concerns related to identity development, relationship challenges, recovery from substance use disorders, shame, perfectionism, high-demand jobs, relational or vicarious trauma, or life transitions. She also has experience working with individuals navigating the recovery process of a partner or adult child with a substance use disorder or mental health concern. Additionally, Emily works with clients grieving the loss of a loved one from suicide or unintentional drug overdose. Following her desire to serve others, Emily graduated from the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in social work and has worked in a variety of clinical settings in the Atlanta area. Upon graduation, Emily worked at the Ridgeview Institute as an admissions counselor. She then transitioned to Metro Atlanta Recovery Residences (MARR) and worked as a primary counselor with addiction and recovery. Before transitioning to private practice, Emily served as the Dual Diagnosis assistant director at Skyland Trail, where she worked with individuals who have a substance use disorder as well as a co-occurring diagnosis like major depression, generalized anxiety, schizophrenia, complex trauma, or disordered eating. At Skyland, Emily also provided supervision to therapists. Emily’s goal in therapy is to help create a safe place where clients can show up authentically and explore parts of themselves they’ve kept hidden. It is her hope that through values exploration, mindfulness, meaning making, and cognitive exercises, clients will begin to experience freedom from old cognitive and behavioral patterns that have kept them stuck and feeling unfulfilled.  Emily considers herself a lifelong learner; in her free time she is often exploring new interests and hobbies—or going on adventures with her pup, Lucy.

Sarah Collier

Tapestry Associates

Marietta, GA

Sarah’s perspective is that life is complicated and it's easy to get lost along the way as people face their own struggles like fear, insecurity, shame, and worry. If those struggles are kept in the dark, they'll only take root and trip people up while making them start to forget truth. It's only by bringing those dark places into the light that those roots can vanish and truth can be seen and grow in ways never imagined. She considers it a joy to partner with others through that process and remove the stigma in seeking help. Sarah graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and from Richmont Graduate University with a Master of Arts in marriage and family therapy. She then served in two private practices and two other universities as their counselor. She has loved working with teens, young adults, women, moms, individuals, and couples. Her current place of practice, Tapestry, thrives in a warm, inviting, and safe environment where the counseling staff is a family who’s dedicated to joining with their clients wherever they are in the journey and walking with them to greater wholeness and healing.

Kristen Shoemaker

Kristen Shoemaker

Renovating Hope Counseling, LLC

Roswell, GA

Kristen is a licensed professional counselor with more than 18 years of experience as a licensed clinician and consultant to individuals, couples, and families. Professional services include counseling and wellness coaching. She has specialized training in providing therapy from a faith-based perspective to serve clients who are interested in that approach. Since 2004, Kristen has been walking alongside individuals as they begin to uncover the larger story that God might be working in their hearts. Often, as individuals reflect on the journey of their lives, it seems as if the story they are living is not the story they had hoped to find themselves in. Heartache from the past, and even anxiety about an uncertain future, can serve to distort one’s view of oneself and the unfolding story. Watching God use brokenness to move people toward redemption and wholeness is one of Kristen's greatest privileges as a therapist. Kristen takes an integrative approach to therapy and feels that one of the most important catalysts for change is found in the strength of the therapeutic alliance. Within that alliance is a collaboration and an agreement on a client's goals and treatment tasks.

Radiant Life Counseling

Atlanta, GA

You’ve booked the venue, found the dress, and you may even know what your reception food will taste like! It’s all super exciting, but the stress of wedding planning is affecting your relationship with your fiancé in ways you didn’t expect. You have wanted to do premarital counseling, hoping that will help, but it feels like one more thing to plan, schedule, and pay for. Thinking about the support it could provide and the foundation it could set for your marriage brings hope, but finding a therapist feels overwhelming! There is hope! In 6–8 sessions, premarital counseling covers topics such as communication, conflict, marriage expectations, roles, parenting, and much more. The goal is to have in-depth conversations around these areas to foster connection and a solid foundation before marriage. Plus, you’ll use a researched-based assessment tool that gives you an honest look at your relationship, helping guide the counseling process. The assessment comes with a workbook containing worksheets to utilize during sessions. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I specialize in working with engaged couples in premarital counseling. I make it easy to learn about the process and get scheduled, and I provide support for each couple as they walk through this season. I have planned an elopement and soon a full wedding—all during the pandemic. I know it’s exhausting, and I am here to help!
