At some point in our lives, most of us will face situations for which we feel unprepared and ill-equipped. Challenges arising from career decisions, stage of life transitions, social interactions, and personal relationships can foster anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation, and low self-esteem. Jill’s goal is to create a counseling environment in which her clients feel safe to acknowledge their struggles and equipped to address them. During time together, her clients live from their values rather than from their fears, to bring the best of themselves to every aspect of their lives. To that end, Jill works with clients on enhancing personal insight and rethinking existing methods for managing stress, coping with conflict, balancing work/school demands with personal life, and navigating personality and family of origin issues.

I understand how debilitating and scary social anxiety, depression, and loneliness can feel. Struggling to get out of bed in the morning, fear of what others will think, or feeling like the only person who doesn't fit in can make somebody want to hide and never come out. I also offer walking sessions to help clients get outdoors. I believe isolation and negative thinking are key components in depression. Part of my goal in therapy is to help clients raise awareness of their behaviors and recognize the lies they tell themselves. I want clients to feel comfortable working at their own pace. I also have a teen processing and hiking group that meets throughout the year for 10 weeks at a time. This group meets once a week for 10 weeks to process what’s happening in group members’ lives and learn new skills to deal with anxiety, stress, depression, family issues, and more. Once a month, we go on a hike or do something fun outdoors. Who: Eight maximum high school guys. Where: My office for weekly sessions and TBD for monthly outings. When: Once a week for skills and processing group and once a month for outdoor hiking or fun activity. Cost: $50 per group session and $60 per outdoor activity.

No matter what they’re facing, people of all ages deserve to be met where they are. Hayley seeks to support and champion every client she has the pleasure of working with. Though Hayley enjoys working with all clients, she specializes as a child and adolescent therapist. She places value on understanding child development when treating young people. Hayley operates through a child-centered point of view and uses children’s natural language of play. In the words of Dr. Garry Landreth: “Toys are children’s words and play is their language.” As adults, we often forget that children are innately different—from their brains to the way they see the world. Because of these natural differences, parents sometimes feel lost about how they can support their child. Hayley believes partnering with parents is an important part of the therapeutic process. A team is created whose sole focus is to provide space for each child to grow and be supported, understood, and heard.
