Steady Hope

Decatur, GA

When you feel like you’re white-knuckling it through life, it can be hard to know how to seek support. Maybe you’re a new mom who feels overwhelmed and outside herself. Perhaps you’re walking through a loss or life transition that leaves you feeling stuck or unable to cope. Or maybe you continue to find yourself affected by a painful past experience that leaves you caught in self-limiting patterns and beliefs. Samantha desires to create space to help you slow down, acknowledge,  and find compassionate support for your needs, and, ultimately, walk with you from a place of surviving to thriving.   Samantha believes in the power of a strong therapeutic connection and works to build trust and extend curiosity about the ways you have learned to show up in your mind, body, and relationships. Working from a trauma-informed approach to build safety and stability from the start, Samantha utilizes the mind-body connection to teach skills for coping with the present and building strength for the deeper healing work ahead. She also uses narrative and parts-work techniques and exploration of past stories and relationships to gain clarity about how to move forward.  Samantha aims to walk alongside you to uncover essential needs that have gone unmet, name with truth the formative experiences that deserve healing, and welcome the parts of yourself that have been burdened so you can live authentically and whole.

Monica Barney

Monica Barney

Alpharetta EMDR/ATLneuro

Alpharetta, GA

Monica believes that taking the leap into therapy can be really scary, and wants you to know she will be there to receive you with compassion and a sincere desire to hear and understand you. She believes that life experiences shape the way we see and feel about ourselves, others, and the world. Trauma, or any disturbing event, can significantly distort these perceptions. This includes humiliation or betrayal; abuse; accidents; witnessing or experiencing natural disasters; or any other event that has been hurtful or disturbing, either from the distant or recent past. When life experiences are harmful or traumatic, we can feel stuck, and unable to move on. This can be overwhelming and defeating, and can often lead to a sense of hopelessness and despair. She believes in empathetically walking alongside others on their journey to hope, healing, and love.  Monica treats adults who are struggling with: trauma, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. She uses several different modalities focused on the needs and strengths of each individual client or couple and has received specialized training in EMDR to help process complex trauma. She treats children with behavioral issues using play therapy and works with couples going through divorce on co-parenting skills. Prior to private practice Monica spent fifteen years working with complex trauma survivors in an International Christian non-profit organization where she specialized in working with survivors of intimate partner violence, survivors of sex trafficking, at-risk children, refugees and those struggling with substance abuse and homelessness.

Angela Crossland

Crossland Counseling Services

Cumming, GA

It is my honor and privilege to walk alongside my clients in a supportive, non-judgmental relationship, giving them a safe space for developing self-awareness, learning healthy coping skills, and improving their quality of life. I work best with adults and adolescents ages 16+. I have been in practice since 2011 and earned a master’s degree in community counseling from University of North Georgia. I have worked at Eagle Ranch children’s home in Flowery Branch, Georgia and at Still Waters, a nonprofit Christian counseling center in Gainesville, Georgia. In my own private practice, I currently see clients virtually.    I combine cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems to help my clients who are dealing with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, codependency, anger, grief, and loss as well as marriage, parenting, and spiritual concerns. For clients seeking Christian counseling, I am able to offer a Christ-centered, Biblical approach. I believe that renewing of the mind through the truth of God‘s word and renewing of the heart through experiencing his love are the foundations for peace and joy, regardless of life circumstances. No matter our struggles, Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.” I love helping my clients on their journey to find this abundant life. Currently, I am only seeing clients virtually.

Hayley Barden

Hayley Barden

Perspectives Psychological LLC

Marietta, GA

No matter what they’re facing, people of all ages deserve to be met where they are. Hayley seeks to support and champion every client she has the pleasure of working with. Though Hayley enjoys working with all clients, she specializes as a child and adolescent therapist.  She places value on understanding child development when treating young people. Hayley operates through a child-centered point of view and uses children’s natural language of play. In the words of Dr. Garry Landreth: “Toys are children’s words and play is their language.”  As adults, we often forget that children are innately different—from their brains to the way they see the world. Because of these natural differences, parents sometimes feel lost about how they can support their child. Hayley believes partnering with parents is an important part of the therapeutic process. A team is created whose sole focus is to provide space for each child to grow and be supported, understood, and heard.
